Chancellor right to turn the page on austerity
Commenting on chancellor Rachel Reeves’ speech at the Labour Party conference today (Monday), UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea said:
“Ruling out a return to austerity was music to the ears of everyone who cares about their communities.
“It’s clear this is a government committed to investing in public services that have been ravaged for a decade and more.
“The chancellor understands that the way to reset the UK and grow its economy is to invest in people, infrastructure and services.
“But fixing the economy and delivering growth won’t be easy. The government’s promises on employment rights, affordable homes and cheaper energy will mean genuine change for working people and their families.”
